The Moore Theater - Seattle’s Oldest Theater

On the corner of 2nd & Virginia, just two blocks from the Pike Place Market, stands the oldest remaining theater in Seattle — The Moore.
The Moore Theater was built in 1907, and was part of establishing 2nd Avenue as the film/theater district of Seattle.  Its exterior was simple and plain, but the interior was opulent.  [...]

Winterfest is Winter Fun

November 24th kicks off five glorious weeks of holiday celebrations at the Seattle Center’s Winterfest.
Holiday lights are festooned throughout the Seattle Center, and a huge tree is located at Center House.  Traditional holiday activities include a variety of things to see, do, and hear.  There’s something for all age groups.

Savor the Taste of Authentic Neapolitan Pizza at Tutta Bella Pizzeria

The pizza debate is alive and well in Seattle:  Deep dish vs. flat.  Thin crust vs. thick.  Heavily sauced with lots of ingredients vs. minimalist.
Now you can add another concept into the mix:  authentic Neapolitan pizza, available locally only at Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria.
The Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) is an organization that evaluates and [...]

Christkindlmarkt in Leavenworth

Anyone who knows me well will find today’s post a little startling.
I’m a one holiday at a time kind of person.  I want to celebrate and enjoy a holiday, and all that it has to offer, rather than rushing through to the next.  I HATE seeing Christmas decorations in stores at Halloween time!
I NEVER thought [...]

Traveling the Washington Passes

It’s snowing in the passes.  Can chains be far behind?
I’ve lived in the Seattle area all of my life, and since I’ve been driving, I have had chains on my car exactly once.  I don’t even own them for my current car.
Why?
Well, first of all I’m not a skier, so you won’t find me braving [...]

Seattle Underground: The Subterranean Neighborhood

This neighborhood just isn’t what it used to be!
No one can argue with how the Pioneer Square area of Seattle has changed over the last couple of decades.  Before it was what you see now, there was a whole different neighborhood of streets and storefronts, all of which were destroyed in the 1989 Seattle fire.
Out of [...]

Jimi Hendrix Grave Site

Lots of musicians have called Seattle home at one time in their life.
Long before rap, grunge, and heavy metal, there was Rock & Roll.  And there was Jimi Hendrix.
Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle on November 27th, 1942.   As a young child he took an interest in music, playing the broom as if it were [...]
