Seattle Marathon – November 26th
Runners will converge on Seattle on Sunday, November 26th, for the running of the Seattle Marathon.
The marathon, sponsored by the University of Washington Medical Center, starts at 5th Avenue, between Harrison and Mercer Streets, just east of the Experience Music Project. The finish line empties into Memorial Stadium at the Seattle Center.
Runners can register online, at a variety of running related business around the area, or at the Health and Fitness EXPO on November 24-25th at the Westin Hotel. There is no day of race registration. Entry fees range from $15 (for the kids marathon) to $120 for full marathon registration at the EXPO. The earlier you register, the better price you’ll get. There are options for a full or half marathon, a marathon for kids, and a walking marathon.
The 2005 Seattle Marathon (in photo above) featured over 14,000 participants with 47 states and 10 nations represented. It is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, and is ranked by Runners Worlds as one of the top 20 Marathons in the United States.
If you’ll be driving downtown on that day, you may want to check the street map to see which streets are impacted by the marathon.
