Seattle Erotic Art Festival

Wanna see my etchings?

At one time a line like that may have labeled you a cad. Today, that line reveals an art connoisseur and a likely patron of the Seattle Erotic Art Festival (SEAF). These are definitely NOT your grandmother’s etchings. SEAF proudly promotes sexual freedom through the visual arts, exploring the hot, the highbrow, the campy and the kinky.

The art will be exhibited at the Fenix Performance Arts Theater, which means that you can sip a beverage and have a bit to eat while enjoying the art displayed on the high ceiinged brick walls. Installation of the show begins on March 11th, so you can stop by early to see it all go up, and then come back during the festival to see the full display.

All artistic genres will be represented, including painting, photography, sculpture, assemblage, prints, installations, performance art and video. Nearly one thousand pieces were submitted for consideration, and the final selection was based on quality of execution, originality of subject and depth of emotion. The organizers hNearly one thousand pieces were submitted from almost 1,000 pieces submitted by hundreds of artists worldwide.

In addition to the art exhibit, a number of workshops and other events are scheduled. Check the SEAF 2007 schedule for complete details.

Location: Fenix Performance Art Theater, 1700 First Avenue South.

Hi, I’m visiting via the Carnival of Cities. Thanks for the post about the SEAF. I’m nowhere near Seattle, but that sounds like an event I’d definitely check out!!

The show attracts a variety of people, and is remarkably inclusive.
