Seattle Poetry Festival, April 20th – 22nd

The 2007 Seattle Poetry Festival, will be held April 20th – 22nd, at three Seattle-area venues, with the theme “Practice Safe Poetry.”  These aren’t your father’s limericks or your sweetheart’s love sonnets, rather the festival is an irreverent and playful three-day biennial celebration of all types of poetry, with over 100 poets, musicians, dancers, visual artists, and theater performers are on the schedule .

Friday, April 20th: Opening Night Party and Poetry Mash-Up, featuring Abyssinian Creole with a spoken word performance by Gabriel Teodros, at Pravda Studios. Program is suitable for all ages. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Pravda Studios is located at 1406 10th Avenue, Suite 200

Saturday, April 21st: Seattle Poetry Festival features a variety of poets and performers at the Richard Hugo House. You can find a full list here. Program is suitable for all ages. Tickets are $12 in advance, $10 in advance for students and seniors, and $15 at the door. The Richard Hugo House, a centery for literary arts, is located at 1634 11th Avenue.

Sunday, April 22nd: Seattle Poetry 2007 Grand Salm, featuring The Suicide Kings and a showcase by Youth Speaks Seattle, at Chop Suey . Tickets are $12 in adance, and $15 at the door. 21 and over only. Chop Suey is located at
