Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

The crack of a bat, the slapping sound of a ball against a mitt, the ever-so-slightly warming air, silly Mariner commercials, the smell of garlic fries — it can only mean one thing. It’s time to open the roof at Safeco Field, and PLAY BALL!

MarinersThe Seattle Mariners won their 2007 opening game at home, against their long standing nemesis, the Oakland A’s, by a score of 4-0. In a mood that can only be called optimistic, or maybe foolish, so early in the season, there’s already talk about the playoffs. I guess time will tell if this season will be any better than the last. Many people claim that it can’t be any worse, but I’ve been living here and following the M’s long enough to know that yes, it can and has been worse.

We’ll all have to just wait and see, because there are a lot of games between now and the playoffs. Take a look at the full Mariner schedule (down loadable and printable), and plan a time to visit the ballpark.

Location: Safeco Field is at the intersection of First Avenue South & Edgar Martinez Drive South (named for the beloved former Mariner designated hitter) in the SoDo district (South of Dome). The corner is usually just referred to as First & Edgar.

Dates & Times: Opening Day, April 2nd, 2007. Closing day, September 30th, 2007. Dates, and times vary.

Tickets: Prices range from $7 (center field bleachers) to $60 (Terrace Club infield), and there are lots of special promotional give-aways, discounts, ticket packages, and special events schedule for home games. Tickets can be purchased through the Mariners online, at the box off at Safeco Field, or at any of the ticket outlets. Tickets are also available through private parties, although caution is advised to make sure that you are not purchasing counterfeit tickets.

I am a Mariner’s fan, but having moved here this year from San Diego, I am still a Padres fan. I am attending Sunday’s game, and my team will win, whichever one it is. Looking forward to the OPEN roof and the great weather – couldn’t ask for anything better than baseball LIVE and under the sun!!!

Regardless of who you’re rooting for, baseball on a sunny day is the best!
