Travel Bloggers Sound Off About Football

Travel Bloggers Sound Off About Football

Another Theme Day here at the b5media Travel & Culture Channel, and this time Melissa at Europe String does the hosting honors, with her round up NFL Season Kick Off.
I’m sitting here watching the Seahawk game right now, so it seems that it’s a great day to have our bloggers sound off about football.  We are all over the board with how we feel about the subject:  love it, hate it, love certain players, hate others.  Head over to read the line up of posts, but make it a little sporting by trying to guess who’s a fan and …read more

The Seahawks’ Qwest for Success

The Seahawks’ Qwest for Success

All my rowdy friends will be at Qwest Field for one Monday Night game this Seahawk NFL Season, in a game against the San Francisco 49-ers.
Of course, there’s a whole season in front of them, but are currently the favorite to win their division.  I’ve also heard some hushed voices speaker of. . . the Superbowl.  But first, there’s a lot of territory to get through.
Qwest Field is home to the Seahawks, with a seat capacity of 67,000 regular seats, 7,000 club seats, and 100 “Red Zone” field-level seats.  The noise factor of the stadium make it one of the ultimate home …read more

Hike Up Rattlesnake Ridge

Hike Up Rattlesnake Ridge

If you don’t have all day for a hike, but still want to have a little pay off at the end of the trip, the four mile Rattlesnake Ridge trail is a perfect choice.
It’s a moderate climb, perfect for beginners, but also enjoyable enough for experienced hikers.  Along the trail you’ll run into hikers of all ages, families, and dogs.  No bikes or horses are allowed on the trail.
Depending on your pace, it’s should be about a two mile trek, one hour each way.  Of course, if you bring a camera along, expect it to take much longer, as you’ll want …read more

Closed Seattle Area Beaches

Closed Seattle Area Beaches

Three local beaches have been closed because of high fecal bacteria levels, making swimming and wading in that water potentially unsafe activities.
Public Health officials aren’t sure what’s causing the spike in bacteria levels, but additional sampling will be done next week.  These beaches closed are:  Juanita Beach, Hidden Lake, and Gene Coulon Memorial Beach.
If you’re heading for a little beach time before heading back to school, you can check the City of Seattle website or the King County website for more beach information.

More Traffic Woes for Seattle

More Traffic Woes for Seattle

So you thought driving around on Monday was going to be smooth sailing, huh?
Well, guess again!  Although this time the reason and location are different, it’s still going to be a mess out there.
President Bush will be in town for a fundraising dinner at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, and the streets and highways on the president’s route will be closed to all other traffic.  Although the specific route is not announced in advance, for security reasons, it’s a safe bet that traffic between the airport and Bellevue is going to be seriously impacted.
The event begins at 3 pm.

I-5 Lanes & Ramps Reopen

I-5 Lanes & Ramps Reopen

The major part of the I-5 construction has now been completed, and with all lanes and ramps open once again, drivers can once again jam the freeway.
Construction crews finished up the project five days ahead of schedule.  Remaining construction work in the downtown area involves some re-paving and finishing work on both north and southbound lanes.  This work will be done in the overnight hours, keeping the impact to traffic at a minimum.  Completion date for this work is early November.
While it would be wonderful to think that Seattle area drivers will continue some of the public transportation options discovered over the …read more
