Life’s a Beach. . . Even in the City

Sand Sculpture If you can’t go to the beach, why not let the beach come to you?

That’s what’s happening at Saturday’s Seattle Sandfest at Westlake Park and Westlake Plaza.  It’s an urban beach party, with giant sand sculptures created by community sponsors.  The event’s flagship sculpture is called “Polar Espresso” and will take a team of sand sculptor four days to create.

With the exception of “Polar Espresso,” the remaining sand sculptures will all be competitive entries.  You can vote for your favorite by purchasing voting tokens for a dollar.  The money raised goes to support The Moyer Foundation, so this is one time when it’s okay to buy votes!

In addition to the sand sculptures, there will be music, a variety of contests and kids activities, and even a sandbox for the kids.  Area stores are offering a variety of special discounts and activities, and you can check here for more information.

Location:  Westlake Park & Westlake Plaza, 4th & Pine (map it), Downtown

Date & Time:  Saturday, August 25th, 11 am – 5 pm
