Photo Op: Ferry Ride

Details:  Many locals use the Bremerton Ferry as a way to commute to and from work.  For visitors, a ferry ride is a fun way to spend some time, giving you a unique view of the city.  It’s a pleasant ride, even on a gray, cloudy day.

Celebrate Dia de Muertos in Seattle

In Mexico, Halloween is celebrated with Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, an extended holiday that also covers November 1st (All Saints Day) and November 2nd (All Souls Day).  While celebrations vary from area to area, all observances are steeped in tradition and rich with culture.
The observance of Day of the Dead goes back [...]

Find What You Crave at CRAVE Show ‘07

All work and no play may make Jill a very financial secure girl, but it’s also a recipe for dullness!
That’s why you’ll want to attend CRAVE Show ‘07, a style event that will allow you a little fun, relaxation, and self indulgence.  And those are all very good things!
You can spend some quality solo or girlfriend [...]

Here Kitty, Kitty

I happen to live with two of the cutest cats ever.  Benjamin (in photo below) is a rescued 13 year old Siamese seal point, and Misha (in photo at left) is a 4 year old Bengal-Siamese flame point mix.  There is no grandeur in their blood lines, they are simply loved and spoiled pets.
There are, however, way [...]

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, it’s not exactly a birthday, and it’s not really about me.  But it was one year ago today that The Seattle Traveler was launched, along with The DC Traveler.  Maybe it’s more of a happy anniversary to both of us!
Thanks to all of you who have become regular readers here at The Seattle Traveler [...]

Vincent Price Halloween Tribute Dinner

Vincent Price and horror movies just seem to go hand in hand.  While he didn’t always play the monster, it seemed he was frequently cast as a quirky, campy, often eerie, kind of of character.
But did you know that he was quite the foodie as well?  He was.  And with his wife, Mary, he [...]

Climbing to the Top at REI

REI is not just a long time Seattle store, it’s a destination in and of itself.  In fact, it ranks as one of Seattle’s top sightseeing attractions.
REI Seattle has become known for its rock climbing wall, a 65 foot tall, realistic, four-story rock sculpture, with routes ranging from 5.4 to 5.11.  Gear and belay [...]

Get Crabby in Port Angeles

All community festivals are NOT created equal, but the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival joins the Penn Cove Mussel Festival at the very top of my list.
The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival is Port Angeles’ annual celebration of seafood, and, more specifically, that wonderful crustacean, the Dungeness Crab.  Dungeness crab average six to seven inches [...]

There’s a Fungus Among Us

This weekend, the Puget Sound Mycological Society sponsors its 44th annual Wild Mushroom Exhibit at the Center for Urban Horticulture at the University of Washington.
This exhibit is one of the largest in the United States, with over 200 different types of wild mushrooms on display, showing the appropriate classification (edible, poisonous, or valueless as [...]
