Your Bad Weather Beach
Oh great! You finally get in bathing suit shape (all the walking, biking, and other exercise to the warm weather), and BAM! Fall hits you squarely in the face. The only swimming you’re going to be doing is if you manage to snag some pool time in sunny Mexico or Hawaii.
But wait! If you’re willing to forego the sun, and content yourself with a little warm water and dry air, you can hop on a ferry and head over to the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center.
The Aquatic Center covers one acre, and has two pools, with lap lanes and diving areas (one and three meter boards), a “beach” entry play area, tot pool, spa, 180-foot water slide, and a lazy river for floating.
Location: Madison Avenue & High School Road, Bainbridge Island (map it)
Hours: Pool hours, activities, and available facilities vary. Check the schedule before heading out.
Admission: $4.25 adults, $3.25 youth (3-17) and seniors (60+), 2 and under FREE. Season passes and punch cards are also available.
I know, I know – it’s not an infinity pool overlooking the ocean in Puerto Vallarta — but it’s a lot cheaper and closer! And when people ask what you did when you were in Seattle, you can always claim that you went to the beach.
