Ice Skate Your Heart Out
When I was a kid, I remember my parents taking my brother and me ice skating. The whole family would set out for a flooded over and frozen pasture in the Nookachamps, and once there, we’d don our skates and spend some time on the ice.
I was no Sonja Henie, but it sure was fun!
I haven’t been ice skating much as an adult, and although the idea of skating at Rockefeller Center or at the Sculpture Gardens has always had great appeal, it’s just never worked out for me to give it a try.
Through January 6th, I don’t have to go that far from home to re-live that childhood experience. I can just head over to the Bellevue Downtown Park and enjoy a few turns around the ice at the partial open-air rink. I can duck beneath the cover is it’s wet out, and if it gets really cold pop into the heated tent (provided for spectators).
Location: NE 1st Street & 102nd Avenue NE, one block south of Bellevue Square (map it)
Dates & Times: Daily through January 6th (closed Christmas Day). Full schedule of hours here.
Admission: $9, which includes skate rentals. $6 if you have your own skates.
Sounds like great fun! Get the hot cocoa ready!____________________________________________
