Seattle Children’s Film Festival

The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) Film festivals abound in Seattle, but did you know that we also have a Children’s Film Festival?

It’s part of the Northwest Film Forum’s programming for families and children, and this year’s event celebrates its third year presenting international children’s cinema.  This year festival will present 88 films from 21 countries, along with given kids and families the opportunity to meet and talk with the filmmakers and producers.

There are also workshops offered for kids that give them a chance to explore movie making for themselves.  The films that come out of these workshops are premiered on the festival’s closing night.  Who knows?  The festival may be the beginning of the career of the next George Lucas or Nora Ephron or Ang Lee.

Location:  1515 12th Avenue (between Pike & Pine), Capitol Hill (map it)

Dates & Times:  January 26th – February 3rd.  Times vary.  Check the schedule for a full listing of programming, dates and times.

Admission:  $6 for adults and children, $5 for Northwest Film Forum members.  Tickets available online, or call (800) 838-3006.  Screenings will sell out, so advance tickets are recommended.

Parking:  Free parking, subject to availability, daily after 9 pm at the Richmark Printers lot on 11th and Pine Street, just east of Cal Anderson Park.  Free street parking is available all day Sunday, and Monday – Saturday after 6 pm.  Pay lots are available in the neighborhood.
