Auntie Mame is in Seattle

Auntie Mame is in Seattle

She was eccentric, wealthy, flamboyant and totally over the top.  But secretly I think we all want to have an Auntie Mame swoop into our lives and and liven things up for a bit.  After all, her motto is “Life is a banquet and most poor sons-of-bitches are starving to death.”
The basic plot line is this:  Flamboyant socialite (Mame) has young nephew (Patrick) who comes to live with her.  Going from rich to poor during the Crash of ‘29, and subsequent depression, Mame must find a job and support the two of them.  Eventually Mame meets and marries …read more

Nightmare of a Married Man is in Federal Way

Nightmare of a Married Man is in Federal Way

It’s easy to just focus on the theater performances at the major venues downtown, but that would be a huge mistake.  The surrounding environs has some great theater as well, and this weekend kicks off a run that’s sure to have the audience laughing.
Centerstage Theater in Federal Way presents Nightmare of a Married Man, an original play penned by theater artistic director Alan Bryce.  The performance will be staged at Federal Way’s Knutzen Family Theater.
The story chronicles two couples, irreconcilable differences, and twists and turns along the way to the thrilling conclusions.  It’s billed as a marital thriller.

This Seattle Bar Will Suit You to a Tea

When a cup of tea is just the remedy you’re looking, head off to  Remedy Tea Bar, where you’ll be able to get a healthy “cuppa” along with free wi-fi.

Carnival of Cities Explained & Enjoyed

Carnival of Cities Explained & Enjoyed

One of the enjoyable things that I get to do as a city blogger, is to explore and discover things about Seattle and the surrounding area and then share my discovery with you.  I have a fascination with my city, and hope that I can convey that to you.
One of the other enjoyable things that I get to do is meet, mingle, and read about other cities through relationships with other city bloggers.  They are as enthusiastic about their cities as I am about my mine.
Many of us get together weekly to share stories about our cities in a …read more

Let them do it at the Seattle Waterfront Arcade on Pier 57.

Portland Has an Underground Too

Portland Has an Underground Too

If you’re a fan of subterranean cities, and have already checked out the Seattle Underground, consider heading south to Portland for a weekend where you can check out their underground “Shanghai Tunnels.”
It’s a sordid tale, just like here in Seattle.  Apparently, civilized society lived above ground, and while there were some nefarious activity going on, it was nothing like what was happening underground.  That’s where the fun stuff was happening!
The Shanghai Tunnels connected the basements of the downtown hotels and bars to the Willamette waterfront, and were originally used to move goods from the waterfront to downtown.  Makes practical …read more
