A Festival of Lessons & Carols with the Northwest Boychoir

by Mary Jo on December 4th, 2007

The Northwest Boychoir presents its annual "A Festival of Lessons & Carols" concert series at various locations throughout the Northwest.

The performance, patterned after the Christmas Eve observance at King’s College in Cambridge, England, is a classical presentation of holiday readings, traditional holiday carols performed by the choir, and a congregational carol sung by everyone.  This is the 29th year that the choir has presented this program.

The Northwest Boychoir was founded in 1971, and has become one of the leading children’s choirs in the United States.  Participants engage in both a music training program and a demanding performance schedule throughout the year.  Total enrollment in the program is over 200 children, aged 6-18, drawn from the schools throughout the Pacific Sound region.

The choir performs frequently with the Seattle Symphony, has appeared with notable musical ensembles around the country, and serves as official “Singing Ambassadors” of Washington State, representing the state at performances around the world.
