Photo Op: Seattle Parking

Details:  I love this photo of parking signs taken from various spots around the Seattle area.  While the city still has relatively easy, if costly, parking, as the population base has grown, it’s become more and more difficult.

Let’s Get Ready to Scramble!

Have you ever come across something that seems like fun, and said, I want to do that?  And then, a day goes by.  And then another.  And before you know it, you’ve forgotten about the idea completely.
That’s what happened to me with the idea of Street Scramble.  But I came across the information again […]

Enjoy the Scenic Byways of the Mountains to Sound Greenway

The fifth annual Greenway Days Festival is slated for the end of the month, and is a celebration of the Mountains to Sound Greenway, 100 miles of designated scenic byways.  The greenway runs along the I-90 corridor, going from the shores of Puget Sound, over Snoqualmie Pass, and into Central Washington.
Most of the greenway […]

High Performance Driving for Amateurs

It’s a jungle out there!
I’m talking about the freeways.  The traffic seems to be getting worse, not better, despite improvements in public transportation.  While road rage here in the Pacific Northwest is not as bad as other part of the countries, defensive driving is becoming more and more important.
How would you assess your […]

Don’t Be a HOV Lane Violator

Have you noticed how empty our freeway HOV lanes are?  Been tempted to speed up your commute by using them — even though it’s just you in the car?  Maybe you even done it, figuring odds were on your side and that you wouldn’t get caught?
Get caught and you’re looking at a moving violation […]

Seattle to Boston at 10 MPH

10 MPH is the story of two friends who impulsively purchase a Segway, quit their corporate day jobs, and make both a trip and a movie about traveling from Seattle to Boston on their Segways.
It’s a buddy film, told at a very slow speed.
The independent film was released in May 2007, and it […]

The Seattle Traveler Top 5 Posts for January 2008

What’s hot in or about Seattle?
Well, for January 2008, these were top 5 posts:

Washington State Caucus Primer.  With all the election talk going on, this came as no real surprise.  What did come as a surprise, though, is how quickly a post that I wrote as a very simple outline of the process turned into […]

Sleigh Bells Ringing in Leavenworth

Eagle Creek Ranch, just outside of Leavenworth, offers picturesque sleigh rides that closely resembles something you’d expect to see on television or in the movies.
Big, lumbering, yet somehow graceful draft horses, antique sleighs, and snow drifts through meadows and alpine forests.  Depending on what experience you are looking for, you can structure your ride […]

Seattle Snow!

Things seem to have come to a screeching halt around here as snow blankets the greater Seattle area.
Freeways looked pretty ugly with traffic and accidents this morning, although things seem to have calmed down now that it’s midday.
Overnight forecast is for more snow — perhaps as much as 4-6 inches, depending on where you […]
