The Seattle Traveler

Climbing to the Top at REI

by Mary Jo on October 13th, 2007

REI Pinnacle Seattle REI is not just a long time Seattle store, it’s a destination in and of itself.  In fact, it ranks as one of Seattle’s top sightseeing attractions.

REI Seattle has become known for its rock climbing wall, a 65 foot tall, realistic, four-story rock sculpture, with routes ranging from 5.4 to 5.11.  Gear and belay is provided by the store staff.

I’ve spent some time at the rock wall.  I wasn’t climbing; I was standing there looking up at the people who were.  That’s one mighty tall wall!

Climbing at REI Seattle REI offers climbing classes for all ages and abilities.  The kids climbing class has a minimum age of only eight!  If an eight year old can climb the wall, I’m sure the rest of us can give it a go as well.

If you’re not convinced to make a climb, REI is still a good stop for shopping.  You’ll find TONS of gear and equipment, and a knowledgeable staff can help you make the selection that is right for your skill level.

Whether it’s a one-time stop in, or you become a REI regular, this is one of the quintessential Seattle stores.
