Discover Your Inner Chef with Cooking Classes at Dish it Up

by Mary Jo on April 27th, 2007

While I know my way around a kitchen, I’m very much in awe (and appreciation!) of my friends who push the boundaries of gourmet cooking.  In awe — probably because I wish I was as competent in the kitchen; in appreciation — because I sometimes get to reap their generosity by being asked to share a meal.  There’s just not much that is better than that.

But, one cannot always trade on the bonds of friendship for a good meal, so I went looking for way to improve my culinary skills and have fun, at the same time.

Enter Dish it Up, a cooking store located in Magnolia Village.  Dish it Up is four foodies, who enjoy trying new recipes, gadgets, and who love to entertain family and friends.  The store offers quality kitchen products, and — this is what caught my eye — fun cooking classes.

I browsed through the May calendar of classes, and found a few that caught my eye:

  • Revealing India (Sunday, May 6th) is a demonstration class that explores the basic spices used in Indian Cooking. Cost $65.
  • Taste of Peru (Thursday, May 17th) is a demonstration class featuring the cuisine of Peru.  This caught my eye because I’ve seen Peruvian restaurants, but don’t have a clue what it is. It sounds yummy. Cost $70.
  • Bye Bye BBQ (Tuesday, May 22nd) is a hands on class dealing with Grilling & Chilling. Cost $75.

There are lots of other classes throughout the month, so check out the calendar to see if any catch your eye.

Location: 2425 33rd Avenue West, Suite B (Magnolia Village). Free parking. Phone: 1-888-322-COOK.

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm. Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm. Check for holiday hours. Special evening hours for cooking classes.

Dish it Up can also schedule private cooking classes for a group.  What a fun way to have a team building session for your office, or to just have a fun evening with friends.
