Donate Gently Used Goods to Eco Encore
Spring cleaning time is just around the corner, and as I was looking around the house, I realized that I’ve put off sorting and getting rid of a lot of stuff simply because I don’t know what to do with it.
Enter Eco Encore, an environmentally friendly organization that sells your used books, CD’s, and DVD’s to benefit environmental non-profit organizations. FINALLY — motivation to clear out some of my over capacity bookcases and drawers of music.
Donated items need to be gently used condition. Ask yourself, if your were buying this item used, would the condition its in be acceptable?
Here’s what they’re looking for:
- CD’s - Originals with no scratches, better if you have the original liner notes.
- DVD’s - Originals with no scratches, preferably in original case.
- Software & Video Games - Must be less than two years old, and have the license.
- Books - In good condition, suitable for resale. No ripped pages, warped or separated binding or excessive highlighting. Worn covers and pages are fine, but not if excessively worn. Best selling categories of books are art, philosophy, spirituality, religion, academic text books (less than 5 years old), professional reference materials (recent), and newer cookbooks.
Eco Encore cannot accept VHS tapes of any kind, paperback mass-marketed novels, outdated travel guides, outdates reference material, academic textbooks older than 10 years, cassette tapes, or anything else that is out-of-date or severely damaged.
Items may be dropped off at the Eco Encore office or, for those people out of town, shipped to the same address.
Location: 900 First Avenue South, Suite 408, downtown (map it)
Your donation may be tax deductible. Check with your tax advisor for information.
