Downtown Seattle Holiday Events

Seattle's Christmas Carousel at Westlake CenterIf you’re spending time in downtown Seattle this holiday season, there are lots of opportunities to participate in the festivities.

At Westlake Center you can ride the Holiday Carousel, a real, old-fashioned carousel.  It’s a treat for kids of all ages, and a short trip down memory lane for adults.  The carousel operates through December 31st.  Suggested minimum donation of $2 per rider, with proceeds benefiting the Northwest Center.

Hours:  Monday-Thursday 11 am-9 pm; Friday 11 am-10 pm, Saturday 10 am-10 pm; Sunday 10 am-8 pm.   Special holiday hours on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve; closed on Christmas Day.

Another fun, and convenient, holiday event is riding the double-decker Holiday Express shuttle through downtown.  It’s a chance to get from one spot in the city to another, while enjoying the sights and sounds of the holidays.  Guides are onboard to tell you a little bit about the Emerald City.

Hours:  The shuttle operates Saturdays and Sundays through December 24th, from 11 am-8 pm, every 15 minutes throughout the day.  It makes several stops throughout the city including:  Westlake Park (Holiday Carousel), Pike Place Market, and Pioneer Square.

You can get a full schedule of all the downtown holiday events with this downloadable Downtown Holiday Guide.

The Fifth Avenue Theater is featuring the musical “White Christmas” until December 20. That brought holiday cheer to my Wife.

We went while the Seahawks were playing the Broncos. I was a sad panda.

Thanks for stopping to comment, Shadow.

The holiday season is full of comprises. Consider your missing the Seahawk - Bronco game to be one of them. :-)

Question. For a family who wants to enjoy both the carousel at Westlake Center, and the Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition, can you let me know whether/when the carousel will be stopped on Dec. 7, 2007 for Figgy Pudding?

I haven’t started posting about all the holiday events in the Seattle area yet. I know everyone is eager to plan, but I have to take the holidays one at a time in order to really appreciate each one.

Please check back after Thanksgiving, just a few days away now, for more info on holiday events.
