Festival of Poinsettias at Molbak’s Nursery
Sometimes the best traditions are ones that grow and change over the years. That’s certainly been the case with the Festival of Poinsettias at Molbak’s Nursery in Woodinville.
Now in its 31st year, the festival was originally a one-day open house where visitors could see beautiful poinsettias as they were growing. The one-day open house then grew into a weekend open house, giving more people a chance to see the poinsettias. Now, it’s become a six-week festival, this year featuring over 42,000 poinsettias across 52 varieties. Every single plant was raised in Molbak’s special growing facility.
At the heart of it all, Molbak’s is a family business. I grew up with the “kids” now running the business, and have seen the business, born of a love of plants, grow from greenhouses with dirt floors into the spectacular retail showcase (with offsite growing facilities) that it is today.
Although Molbak’s is great any time of year, my favorite time to visit is during the holidays.
Location: 13625 NE 175th St, Woodinville. Directions here.
Holiday Hours: Monday-Friday 10 am-8 pm; Saturday 9 am-8 pm, Sunday 10 am-6 pm. The Festival of Poinsettias runs through December 24th.
