Have a Little Science with your Beer

by Mary Jo on January 25th, 2008

Science on Tap combines science and beer The mixing of science and beer plays out monthly, in two different locations, with Science on Tap.

Based on the U.K.’s Cafe Scientifique, the casual gatherings,

And it really is about science and beer.  Each meet up features a guest speaker and program on a scientific topic, along with lively, but casual, conversation.  While you’ll find lots of people from varying niches within the scientific community, the program is also designed to encourage the non-scientific among us to participate as well.

And oh yeah — there’s beer!

What started out as a small, simple gathering, quickly picked up steam, and Science on Tap now has two meeting locations:

The Pub at Third Place:  6504 20th Avenue N.E., Ravenna (map it).  Meetings are the last Monday of the month, at 7 pm.  January 28th topic:  “Powering the Planet: conversations about alternative fuels”

T.S. McHugh’s Pub:  21 Mercer Street, Queen Anne (map it).  Meeting the first Tuesday of the month, 7 pm.

All meetings are open to the public.  No science background is required!

I love this idea. What a city of culture. No wonder my cousin loves living in Seattle. I guess I need to get my nerve up to fly again and pay her family a visit. Cindi

Your blog is making me wish I lived in Seattle.

I wonder if I could get something similar organized here.
