Honor Veteran’s Day with a Visit to Seattle Veterans Museum

by Mary Jo on November 9th, 2006

Visit the Seattle Veterans MuseumThe Seattle Veterans Museum is located downtown, on the west side of Benaroya Hall.  The site also features the Remembrance Garden, a granite wall memorial that lists all Washington State service members killed during wartime since 1940.

The mission of the museum is to honor and thank Veterans, and to education the community about the sacrifices made for our freedoms.  It serves as a thank you to every U.S. Military veteran that ever “stood the watch” for their country, and is a reminder that freedom is not free, but is paid for with the blood of servicemen and women.

On display at the museum you will find uniforms, gear, and weapons from over 225 years of military history.  The rich heritage and history of our country’s military is brought to life through artifacts, photographs and personal stories of our servicemen and women.

Veteran’s Day is Saturday, November 11th, making this a perfect time to visit the museum.

Location:  200 University Street (2nd Avenue between University and Union).

Hours:  Every Friday and Saturday, 10 am-5 pm, and by appointment for groups.
