Midnight Movies at the Egyptian Theater

by Mary Jo on June 23rd, 2007

Midnight Movies at the EgyptianIt looks like Seattle is in for a nice weekend, and that means most of us will be outdoor enjoying the day.  It’s hard to even think about staying inside for a movie when the sun shines in Seattle — unless, of course, you plan to attend the Midnight Movie at the Egyptian Theater.

The building was originally built in 1915 as a Masonic Temple, and long time Seattle residents may remember it from the ’70’s when it was used as a wrestling venue.  (The Masons needed to earn some extra money.)  In the ’80’s it became the home of the Seattle International Film Festival.

The Egyptian Theater proudly features independent, foreign language, documentary, and restored classic films.

Here is a list of some of the upcoming midnight summer showings:

  • June 22-23:  Flash Gordon
  • June 29-30:  The Buffy Musical:  Once More, With Feeling
  • July 6-7:  Footloose
  • July 13-14:  Dynamite Warrior (Premiere)
  • July 20-21:  The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
  • July 27-28:  Another Gay Movie
  • August 3-4:  Cannibal!  The Musical
  • August 10-11:  Forbidden Planet

Quite an eclectic mix, I’d say!

Location:  801 East Pine (a half block west of Broadway on Capital Hill).  Street parking is available, as well as in the Seattle Community College garage at Harvard & Pine.

Dates & Times:  Friday & Saturday nights, at midnight.

Tickets:  $9.25 for adults, $6.25 children and seniors.  Available at the box office, or Buy midnight tickets at Movie Fone, with a $1 per ticket service charge.
