On Your Mark, Get Set, Go. . . to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Men, women, and children will all find substantial savings on fall wardrobe items at the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. In my opinion, this is the biggest and best of the sales, and features a full line of fall fashion. Lots of colors, lots of sizes, and for just over two weeks you can find substantial discounts.
The sale starts this Friday, July 20th, and runs through Sunday, August 5th. You can shop at Nordstrom’s online, or use the store selector to find a store near you, along with the hours the store is open.
For years the Anniversary Sale has been an “event” for me. It involves shopping with a best friend, carpooling to take advantage of the HOV lanes, a latte in the morning, lunch, and on marathon days, even happy hour in the afternoon. Some years I’ve found more than others, but the shoe department always calls to me.
If you’ve never been to the sale, you may not be intrepid enough to brave the first day. There are lots of tricks of the trade, and local style blogger Meredeth McMahon has some great suggestions on how to navigate the sale. Or, you can always wait till the initial feeding frenzy has passed, and go for a more leisurely shopping excursion.
It used to be just a Seattle tradition, but with the spread of Nordstrom stores opening around the country, we don’t get to keep it just to ourselves any longer. (I’m hoping to visit stores in several cities around the country during the sale, because there’s always something different.)
