Photo Op: Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill

by Mary Jo on June 24th, 2007

Cal Anderson Park on Seattle's Capitol Hill Details:  In keeping with the Pride weekend theme, Cal Anderson Park, originally named Lincoln Park, was renamed after the state’s first openly gay state legislator.  The park is located on Capitol Hill, at 1635 11th Avenue (11th & East Pine), covers just over seven acres, and is open daily from 4 am - 11:30 pm.

The park includes the Lincoln Reservoir and the Bobby Morris Playfield.  It also features a fountain, texture pool, reflecting pool, walking paths (approximately 2/3 of a mile around the circumference), shelter house, children’s play area, wading pool, and lots of grass.  It’s a perfect spot for walking, lounging, meditation, reading, and informal as well as organized sports.
