Seattle Symphony Launches 2007-08 Season

symphony I missed posting earlier about the opening night of the 2007-08 Seattle Symphony Season.  (It must have been because I was too wrapped up in my Paris experience.)

Opening night is tonight, with a performance by cellist Yo-Yo Ma.  He’s one of my favorites on my iPod play list, and it’s a shame I’m out of town for this sold-out event.

The Symphony has a lot of great performances scheduled this season, from the traditional to the concerts for young people, so whether your a classical music fan, or new to the genre, you’ll find something that all audiences will enjoy.

Here’s the lineup for the remainder of September:

  • September 20th - 23rd:  Sci-Fi Favorites (featuring music by John Williams) will feature a laser light show and narration by Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu, George Takei.
  • September 27th - 30th:  Rachmaninov Keyboard Fireworks

And October:

  • October 4th - 6th:  Takezawa Returns to the Symphony
  • October 5th - 6th:  Follow the Instrument Road (part of the Tiny Tots series to introduce little ones to music).
  • October 8th - Joseph Adam Organ Recital
  • October 11th - 14th:  Mozart’s Requiem
  • October 13th - 20th:  From Soccer to the Symphony (part of the Discover Music for young people series).
  • October 16th:  Murray Perahia Piano Recital
  • October 19th - 20th:  Handel’s Water Music
  • October 23rd:  Sergio & Odair Assad (duo-guitar recital)
  • October 25th - 28th:  Awadagin Pratt Performs Mozart

You can find the full details of these performance, as well as for the balance of the season, along with ticket information,at the Seattle Symphony website.
