Seattle Welcomes the Carnival of Cities
Welcome to the December 10th, 2007 edition of the Carnival of Cities.
I’m very pleased to welcome these wonderful bloggers from around the world to my home town of Seattle. And now, I invite you to take a little time to get to know them, as they, in turn, get to know Seattle.
From the Americas:
- JenWriter presents Top Ten Things I Love About New York City posted at Small Town City Girl. It’s amazing how she captured the essence of the Big Apple a list of ten.
- Marilyn Terrell presents Sherpa in the City posted at Intelligent Travel, saying, “Which city has the most Sherpas outside of Nepal? That’s right, New York. And they’re driving taxi cabs.” Perfect for the shopping treks!
- Jamie presents It’s Holiday Time at the Greenmarket posted at Explorer Pass Blog, saying, “My post is about my experience helping out Trumansburg Tree Farms of Trumansburg, NY, selling Christmas trees and handmade wreaths at the Union Square Greenmarket.” What a way to get in the holiday spirit.
- Wendy presents Guanajuato Mexico posted at Escape From New York, saying, “Guanajuato, nestled in the mountains of Mexico’s colonial heartland, feels and looks like a small laid back southern European city.” A new Mexico destination for me to put on my list.
- And my contribution to this week’s carnival, Christmas in the Northwest 10 posted at The Seattle Traveler. Delightful holiday music, performed local artists, benefiting area Children’s hospitals.
From Europe:
- Christopher Michael presents Please Pass the Time and Money: a great way to save money in Rome and see the sights for less posted at -noambit -Travel Europe- where to go, what to see, and how to get there, saying, “A great way to save time and money in Rome.” Lots of good ideas here for unlimited travel and free admission into the sights.
- Jul presents Christmas market season: Dresden posted at Europe String. Maybe next year I can do my shopping at these Christmas markets.
- Joshua Seth presents Getting Lost in Istanbul posted at Joshua Seth Blog, saying, “A Voyage to feel the taste of Old Europe through Hippodrome, the site of chariot races in old Constantinople and the Egyptian obelisk.” It feels like history come to life.
- Natalie Bennett presents Fragments of old Paris in the 4th arrondissement posted at My Paris Your Paris. During my recent trip to Paris I stayed in the 4th, so this was a nice memory of my stay.
From Asia:
- Grigo presents All About Crabs: Shanghai Hairy Crab posted at Wondering with Wind, saying, “A blog post about delicious Shanghai hairy crab, a local crab. The post introduced what is hairy crab, how to eat the real crab and when is the best season for it.” Hard to find, but worth it!
From Australia:
- Alex Garcia presents CitySights: Brisbane’s best point of view posted at Life in Brisbane - Queensland - Australia, saying, “The City Sights hop on hop off tour lets you set your own pace as you can leave and rejoin the tour at any one of the strategically placed stops around Brisbane.” A nice way to get an overview of the city.
That concludes this edition. A very big thank you goes out to all of our contributors. It’s because of bloggers like you that the world is really a very small place.
If you’re interested in sharing information about your city, you can submit your blog article to the next edition of the Carnival of Cities using our carnival submission form. Next week’s host will be Patricia at Kango.

My favorite lentry was the Hairy Crab link.. I love crab, many families in the Bay Area have crab on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I will have to do some research on if I am eating male or female crab. Great post.
