Summer Just Seems to Go Better With an Elysian Beer

by Mary Jo on August 12th, 2008

While the Pacific Northwest may have become know for its wines and wineries, Seattle is also a beer kind of place, with some nice tasting brews along with fun brew pubs and interesting breweries and brewing methods.

Elysian Beer On Capital Hill, you’ll find the Elysian Brewing Company with both a full service restaurant and bar and a 20-barrel brewing facility.  A walk by will give you a nice look at both.  The menu contains lots of the usual pub grub, but also offers some vegan options as well.  I’d suggest trying the Steak Frites, grilled sliced flank steak server over french fries and topped with a blue-cheese cream sauce ($12).  It’s not for the diet conscious, but pair it up with an ice cold beer and life seems very, very happy!

Elysian Brewing offers a number of always available choices, including:  Immortal IPA, Wise ESB, Dragonstooth Stout, Perseus Porter, Zephyrus Pilsner, and Elysian Fields Pale Ale, the latter one of my favorites.

A number of seasonal brews are also offered.  The Nightowl Pumpkin Ale is a popular fall (Halloween) choice, and during these summer months, you have the popular Jasmine IPA.

Locations:  1221 East Pike Street, Capital Hill (map it)

542 1st Avenue South, Downtown (map it)

2106 North 55th Street, Greenlake (map it)

Hours:  Hours vary, so check on the location that interests you

You can find Elysian beers at lots of other stores and restaurants around town as well.

I love an ice cold beer, but don’t consider myself a connoisseur, by any means.  If you’re interested in more in depth beer information, check out Brew-Ha-Ha, written by husband and wife beer lovers, Kelly and Chris.
