Support Good Causes at the Poverty Bay Wine Festival, March 9-11
In keeping with the theme of Washington Wine Month, I came across some information about the Poverty Bay Wine Festival.
Sponsored by the Des Moines (here is Washington State with pronounce the “s” in Moines) Rotary Club, the festival combines a love of the grape with a fundraiser to support Rotary’s very worthy causes.
The festival lasts thee days, and offers up music, good eats from local food vendors (Metropolitan Market, B&E Meats and Seafoods, etc.), and of course, wine — tastings from 16 Washington wineries, including EB Foote, Nota Bene Cellars, Lost River Winery, etc.
Location: Des Moines Beach Park, adjacent to the Marina
Dates & Times: Saturday, March 10th, 11 am – 8 pm, and Sunday, March 11th, noon – 6 pm. A Black Tie optional gala will be held Friday, March 9th, starting at 7:30 at Landmark on the Sound (formerly the Masonic Home).
Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and include a souvenir wine glass and five tokens for wine tastings, food samplings, and entertainment. Additional tasting tokens are available at the event for $1. Tickets for the gala are $75 in advance, $85 at the door, and include the evening of music, entertainment, Hors D’oeuvres, dessert, wine tastings, art and wine auction, and Champagne, and a single admission to the Festival on either Saturday or Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets, or direct from Corky Cellars (206) 824-9462 or the Des Moines Drug Store (206) 878-2345.
Since 100% of the net revenues of this event are used to fund the charitable activities of the Des Moines Rotary Club, this is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the nectar of the gods and support good causes at the same time. I’m checking my schedule and plan to be there.
