Sometimes you can just use a good laugh!

If you’re looking for something edgy and innovative in the humor department, Laff Hole offers lots of prospects for a good time. It’s different, it’s quirky, and it’s a lot of fun!

Every week, the Peoples Republic of Komedy and Capitol Hill Arts Center presents a showcase of cutting edge comedians, combining stand-up and improv techniques. Seattle area comedians include: Cathy Sorbo, Jaqi Furback, Kelli Robson, Holli Pappan, and Monti.

Location: Capitol Hills Arts Center, 1621 12th Avenue, on the corner of 12th Avenue and East Pine (Capitol Hill)

Tickets: $5, available in online and at the door. This is an adult only venue (21 years of age minimum), and ID is required.

Dates/Time: Wednesdays, through May 30th, 9 pm.

Get a group of friends together and have a good, mid-week laugh!

Seattle’s Gay Bingo is Always a Sell Out

Seattle is not the kind of place where you need to plan months in advance for things. Oh sure, there are the big concerts, opening nights, and a few random restaurants where you can’t wait till the last minute. However, most places in the Seattle area, with a week or so of notice, you’ll be fine. With less notice, you even stand a good chance of pulling it off at the last minute, with a little patience and determination. We’re a pretty casual kind of place about advance planning.

But – and you knew there was a catch – if you want to have a seriously, uproariously, side splitting good time, you’re going to need to plan for this FAR in advance.

Gay Bingo!

Huh? What’s that you say? Well, 750 people each month can’t all be wrong!

Seattle’s Gay Bingo in a fundraiser for the Lifelong Aids Alliance, and is now in its 14th year. It’s held on the second Saturday of each month, and sells out months in advance. February and March are currently sold out, and April is getting close to it, so this is one event where you need to think ahead.

There’s a theme each month, just to help add a little frivolity to the evening. Although costumes are not required, it is encouraged with prizes for best costumes. Here are the themes for this season:

Saturday, January 13th – Superhero Gay Bingo
Saturday, February 10th – Pirate Gay Bingo
Saturday, March 10th – Groovy 70’s Gay Bingo
Saturday, April 14th – Art Appreciation Gay Bingo
Saturday, May 12th – Come as your Mother Gay Bingo
Saturday, June 9th – Rocky Horror Gay Bingo

The host for your evening of Gay Bingo is GLAMAZONIA, a sexy, perhaps a bit naughty, 7’2” drag queen, who is ably assisted by the angelic, Miss Intermission, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. It’s costumes, music, food and beverage, along with actual bingo games and cash prizes. Seattle area celebrities frequently serve as Bingo callers.

If you’re celebrating a special event, consider reserving the Queens for a Day table. It’s a popular table for bachelorette parties, and gives you priority seating, snacks, soda, a Cupcake from Cupcake Royale, a gift from Babeland, and a cocktail coupon. Queen for a Day seating is an additional $10/person.

Reservations are required, and you can purchase a table (8 or more people) for a month, or for the entire season, online. Individual tickets are available at the Lifelong Thrift Store at 1017 E. Union (Capital Hill). Tables that have not been claimed by 7:30 pm on Bingo Night are released for general admission seating.

Location: South Lake Union Naval Reserve Building, 860 Terry Avenue North

Date & Time: 2nd Saturday of the month, January thru June. Doors open at 6 pm, Gay Bingo starts at 7 pm.

Admission: $20/person, $30/person for Queen for a Day seating. Admission includes10 games of Bingo. Food and beverages are available. 21 and over only (Washington State Liquor Law), ID required.

All genders and sexual orientation are welcome.

Yuck it up at the 2007 Comedy Video Festival

With all the rain and snow in Seattle lately, weather is no laughing matter.

So how can you get your jollies in the midst of all this? Yuck it up at the Comedy Video Festival on Saturday night, January 13th, or the following Saturday, January 20th.

It’s more of an anti-film festival than you may be expecting, but what do you expect for an event billed as “What the Hell Did I Just Watch?” No highbrow humor, polite applause, or subtle tee-hees. This is all about laughter that comes from deep down within you, somewhere unexpected, and that you’re almost a little embarrassed to admit.

Location: Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater, 2320 2nd Avenue (Belltown)

Showings: Saturday, January 13th, 7 pm and 8:30 pm. Saturday, January 20th, at the same time. Come early for Rendezvous Happy Hour.

Tickets: $10, at the door, includes parking. Reservations required as only a limited number of seats are available.

Attendees will have an opportunity to vote on the best video.
