Try A Taste of Napoli Without Leaving Seattle
While I’m traveling in Italy, here’s a suggestion of how you can have a little taste of what I’m enjoying — without having to leave Seattle. Check out one of the two locations of locally owned Via Tribunali.
Via Tribunali serves up Neapolitan style pizza to discerning patrons hungry for thin, blistered crusts, sprinkled with coarse salt. The crusts are then of topped with a light layer of sauce, and then topped with an assortment of toppings. Some of the more popular toppings include: garlic, fresh mozzarella, cured meats, and fresh sausage.
With a house salad (greens with olives and proscuitto) to accompany your pie, along with some red wine, you’ll have a perfect meal!
On a visit with friends last fall (to the Capitol Hill location), we ordered an antipasto plate (misto salumi, $15), two pizzas (a margherita, $11, and a proscuitto e funghi, $15), and a couple bottles of wine. It was just right, and quite satisfying, for four hungry people.
The Capital Hill location is busy, and generally noisy. It’s a very fun environment, but not a good choice for a romantic date. It’s perfect, however, for a lively evening with friends.
Location: 913 E. Pike (between 10th Avenue & Broadway), Capital Hill (map it); 317 W. Galer (between 3rd & 4th Avenue West), Queen Anne (map it)
Hours: The Capital Hill location is open daily, 5 pm - 2 am. The Queen Anne location is open daily, 5 - 11 pm. Reservations accepted only for parties of 8 or more.
TIP: Order just what you can eat. Although take out is available, the pizza gets too soggy when it cools, making it messy, unattractive, and a little less appetizing.
