Westfield Southcenter Grand Re-Opening

It’s been nearly 40 years since Southcenter Mall opened, and today it celebrates is long overdue, and much needed, facelift with a Grand Opening of the re-branded Westfield Southcenter. This expansion makes Southcenter the largest shopping mall in the Seattle area.
Opening weekend will be full of special events, entertainment, and store promotions giving you plenty of reasons to stop by to take a look at the beautiful new mall design. 75 new stores join the mall, including Coach, Lucky Brand Jeans, M.A.C., PINK, Sephora, White House/Black Market, and H&M. You’ll also find 14 concept stores, news twists on some of your old favorite shopping haunts.
Since shopping can be an all-day experience, you’re sure to want some nourishment, and now you’ll be able to find everything from the convenience of a food court (revamped adding new food choices and an indoor and outdoor seating option), to sit-down dining. While I’m not sure that I’d put the latter in the category of fine dining, the restaurants will provide a variety of relaxing, full-service meal choices.
Shopping malls have long been for far more than just shopping, and the new Southcenter offers a 16-screen stadium seating movie theater with IMAX capability. Amenities for families and kids include a Kids Play Space (a hands-on Exploratorium) and family friendly stores and eating options.
I’ve been watching the Southcenter remodel over the last couple of years, and am anxious to visit this weekend to see the finished result.
