Win a Tom Douglas Cookbook!

by Mary Jo on January 17th, 2008

Tom Douglas Last month I attended an event and had the opportunity to meet and briefly chat with Seattle Chef and personality, Tom Douglas.

Tom, along with his wife and business partner Jackie Cross, owns five downtown restaurants: Dahlia Lounge, Etta’s (a long-time personal favorite), Palace Kitchen, Lola, and Serious Pie.  In addition, he also runs a retail bakery, Dahlia Bakery, a catering business, and an event space, Palace Ballroom.

There’s also a specialty food line that includes rubs, barbecue sauces, and teriyaki sauces.  I wanted to try something new and was having a tough time making up my mind, and Tom spent some time talking with me about what I liked to cook, what I liked and didn’t like, and then he made some recommendations for me to try.  He didn’t rush me to make a decision, and made me feel like my choices were as important to him as they were to me.

Tom Douglas' Seattle Kitchen  In his spare time, although it’s hard to believe that he has any, Tom writes cookbooks.  Wonderful cookbooks, full of gorgeous photos and delicious recipes that focus on local Seattle ingredients.  Cookbooks that make you hungry just looking at them.  Cookbooks that have you running for the kitchen because he makes them sound easy enough for any of us to make.

I have an autographed copy of one of those cookbooks to give away to a reader:  Tom Douglas’ Seattle Kitchen:  A Food Lover’s Cookbook.

I have to spell out some rules and guideline, but it’s simple to enter:

Just leave a comment on any post on this blog between January 17th and 31st.  Every comment is an entry into the contest.  If you link back to a blog post and it shows up as a trackback, there’s another entry.

There’s no limit to the number of comments you can make - but NO SPAM!  Spammers will be automatically disqualified.

After the month ends, I’ll collect all the comments, assign them a number, and then use a random number selector to choose the winner.

I will personally take care of shipping costs to get this to the winner, but if you live somewhere that it’s problematic to receive a package from the US, please let me know.

What are you waiting for?  Leave a comment right now!
